Helitron

A compact gas mass spectrometry system for breath testing

Helitron V CO₂ – [H₂] combines miniaturised gas mass spectrometry with proprietary MEMS and NEMS technologies.

The system analyses gas samples at ambient pressure in an innovative and smart way, without requiring traditional gas columns or carrier gas containers.

Its compact configuration has been developed to make gas mass spectrometry more accessible and easier to integrate into different clinical and research settings.

compact architecture

COMPACT ARCHITECTURE

The system has a volume approximately one order of magnitude smaller than conventiona instruments.
column free

COLUMN-FREE TECHNOLOGY

Gas samples are analysed without traditional chromatographic columns or carrier gas container.
automated calibration

AUTOMATED CALIBRATION

The autocalibration function allows the system to be programmed and prepared for analysis according to the laboratory workflow.

AMBIENT-PRESSURE SAMPLING

Samples are analysed through a proprietary nanometric inlet system operating at ambient pressure.
integrated data

INTEGRATED DATA PROCESSING

Machine-learning-based analysis support faster interpretation of the acquired gas spectra.
gas detection

MULTIPLE GAS DETECTION

The platform can detect different gases in breath samples, including CO₂, H₂, CH₄ and H₂S, depending on the configured application.

FROM TECHNOLOGY TO CLINICAL PRACTICE

Helitron V CO₂ – [H₂] is in use within leading private healthcare groups in Italy, bringing its breath analysis technology into clinical practice.

Clinical validation for
Helicobacter pylori testing

The diagnostic performance of Helitron V CO₂ – [H₂] was evaluated in a prospective, single-blind clinical study comparing the system with conventional gas mass spectrometry for the diagnosis and post-treatment monitoring of Helicobacter pylori infection.

From scientific research to clinical application

Helitron V CO₂ – [H₂] was developed to combine
the analytical performance of gas mass spectrometry with a more compact and operationally flexible architecture.

Its design may support the adoption of breath testing in settings where conventional mass spectrometry systems can be difficult to install o manage.

At EHMSG 2026, the NanoTech Analysis team will be available to discuss:

the technology behind the Helitron platform
possible clinical and research applications
the results of the clinical validation study
installation and workflow requirements

SUPPORTING INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH

NanoTech Analysis provides in-kind technical support to the international research project “Exploring Lifestyle and Prevalence of Helicobacter pylori Infection in the Galapagos Archipelago Population”.

The study will involve 500 volunteers from Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal, combining epidemiological questionnaires with non-invasive Urea Breath Testing to investigate the prevalence of H. pylori and possible correlations with lifestyle, environmental factors and gastric health.
